From missing teeth to a fixed smile.
This patient wanted fixed, implant-supported teeth for both the upper and lower jaw. Watch how Dr. Jordi planned the case, from the collapsed bite to the final prosthesis.
A missing tooth doesn't have to stay missing. Implants replace the root as well as the crown, so your bite, your bone and your face keep their shape. Every case here is planned by Dr. Jordi Izzard A. Landayan, a Prosthodontic Specialist recognised by the PRC.
All three replace missing teeth. They differ in what they protect, how long they take, and what they cost. Here's the honest version.
| Implant | Bridge | Denture | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Replaces | The tooth and its root | The tooth, anchored on the teeth either side | The teeth only, resting on the gums |
| Neighbouring teeth | Left untouched | Shaped down to support the bridge | Partials may clip onto them |
| Jawbone | Helps preserve it | Bone under the gap can shrink over time | Doesn't prevent bone loss |
| How it feels | Fixed, like a natural tooth | Fixed | Removable |
| Upfront cost | Highest upfront | Moderate | Lowest |
| Time to finish | 4–6 months | Usually a few weeks | Usually a few weeks |
An implant isn't automatically the right answer. It usually costs more upfront and lasts longest, but your bone, bite, budget and how many teeth are missing all matter. You'll get a written comparison for your own case at consultation.
Six steps spread over four to six months. Most of that is healing time between visits — the actual chair time is far less than most patients expect.
A full exam and digital X-ray to check your bone, gums and bite, and to work out whether an implant is the right answer for you — sometimes it isn't, and we'll say so.
How many implants, how long it will take, what it will cost, and any preparatory work such as a bone graft. You take the plan home and decide in your own time.
The implant is placed under local anaesthesia. You go home the same day with clear after-care instructions and a number to call if anything worries you.
The implant fuses to your jawbone. This part is biology and can't be rushed — trying to shorten it is one of the most common reasons implants fail elsewhere.
Once healing is confirmed, a small connector is attached to the implant and scanned with our Medit intraoral scanner — no impression trays, no putty. This is the base your final crown sits on.
A custom crown, designed digitally from your scan and shade-matched to your natural teeth, is fitted and adjusted until the bite feels right. You leave with the finished tooth.
Every implant case at Modern Smiles is planned by Dr. Jordi Izzard A. Landayan, DMD, MSc, FPPS, FPAID, a PRC-recognised Prosthodontic Specialist and Fellow of the Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry.
He trained in advanced prosthodontics at Korea University, where he also researched implantology full-time, then completed advanced implantology training at UCLA and spent five years teaching prosthodontics at the University of the East.
Today he runs his own implant training program for dentists — more than 30 batches nationwide — and is the on-call implantologist other clinics bring in for their implant cases.
In the clinic
Why that matters to you. Prosthodontists specialise in what goes on the implant — the bite, the crown, and how it all looks. Your crown is designed from a precise digital scan, not a tray of impression putty, so it fits, functions and lasts.
Every implant is placed with surgical-grade equipment and checked on digital X-ray, and the models behind your treatment are printed right here in the clinic.

Implant pricing varies with your bone condition, whether grafting is needed, and the crown material. We give you a firm figure in writing once we've seen your X-rays — not before.
Why we don't quote a flat price over the phone. Anyone who gives you a fixed implant price without seeing an X-ray is either guessing or planning to revise it later. We'd rather tell you the honest range now and the exact number after your assessment.
A single-tooth implant at Modern Smiles starts at ₱100,000. Here's exactly what that covers.
Planned and placed by Dr. Jordi, a PRC-recognised prosthodontist who trains other dentists in implant surgery — more than 30 batches nationwide.
One of the world's most widely used implant systems, so parts and support are available far beyond our clinic.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown, designed from a Medit digital scan and shade-matched to your teeth. Zirconia is available as an upgrade.
The connector between the implant and the crown is included in the price, not added on at the end.
Why some clinics quote less. A lower implant price usually means an unbranded or lesser-known implant, a general dentist placing it instead of a specialist, or an implant-only price that leaves out the abutment and crown. Ask any clinic those three questions — we'll answer ours in writing.
Our aftercare promise. We don't stop at the crown. From the day your implant is placed you have a direct line to the clinic, healing checks until your final crown is fitted, and a specialist who will see you if anything ever feels wrong.
A ₱3,000 specialist implant consultation — virtual or in-clinic — gets you an examination, digital X-rays and a written plan with your firm price. HMO verification and installment options included.
Read what patients say about the honesty of the plan, the comfort of the visit and the result.
Straight answers on cost, comfort, timelines and whether an implant is even the right option for you.
At Modern Smiles, a single-tooth dental implant starts at ₱100,000, covering an Osstem implant, the abutment and a porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown; a zirconia crown is available as an upgrade. The final figure depends on your bone condition, whether a bone graft or sinus lift is needed, and the crown material you choose. If you're replacing two or more teeth, package rates apply; multi-tooth and full-arch cases are quoted after a clinical assessment. Guide prices last reviewed October 2026.
With healthy gums, good home care and regular checkups, a well-planned implant can last many years — often decades. The two things that matter most are the planning at the start, particularly bone assessment, and hygiene afterwards. No dentist can guarantee a lifespan, and you should be cautious of any who does.
The placement itself is done under local anaesthesia, so you'll feel pressure but not pain. Most patients describe the days afterwards as mild soreness rather than pain, manageable with ordinary pain relief. We'll go through exactly what to expect before you commit to anything.
Most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone are candidates. If there isn't enough bone, grafting can often build it up first. Uncontrolled gum disease, some medical conditions and heavy smoking can affect suitability. This is exactly what the consultation is for — and if an implant isn't right for you, a bridge or denture may be the better answer.
Because the bone has to fuse to the implant, a process called osseointegration. That takes time no technique can shorten safely. Most of those months are healing between appointments, not chair time.
Most HMO plans in the Philippines cover preventive and basic restorative care — consultations, cleaning, fillings, simple extractions — but not implants. We're accredited with Maxicare, Cocolife, PhilCare, Filipino Doctors and Health Partners, and we'll verify exactly what your card covers before you commit. Installment options are available for the balance.
An implant replaces the root as well as the tooth, so it doesn't rely on the neighbouring teeth and helps preserve the bone underneath. A bridge is faster and cheaper upfront but involves preparing the teeth either side. A denture is the most affordable and least invasive. Which is right depends on your bone, your bite, your budget and how many teeth are missing — you'll get a written comparison for your own case at consultation.
A specialist implant consultation is ₱3,000 (virtual or in-clinic) and gets you an examination, digital X-rays and a written plan you can take home. No pressure, no hard sell.
